Legion Banners Going up in Downtown Oshawa

Since 2017, the Veteran Banner Program has been a way that the Legion, the City of Oshawa, and Downtown Oshawa have been honouring and remembering those who have served our country for our freedom.

This program provides the opportunity for people to honour their family members who are veterans by purchasing Remembrance Day banners to be hung around Downtown Oshawa. These banners include the name and photograph of the veteran and their service. These banners will be going up around the downtown beginning on October 25 until Remembrance Day on November 11.

The Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony will be happening on November 11 from 10:25 am until 12:00 pm in Memorial Park.

"Lest We Forget" The Veteran Banner Program is a great addition to the way Oshawa honours those who secured our freedom. In addition to banners, Oshawa has a Veterans Street naming program and provides free parking to those with Veterans plates. We have not forgotten!" - Regional Councillor, Colonel (Retired) Bob Chapman

"Today and every day we honour those who have served our country. This banner program is one of the many ways to do that. Downtown Oshawa and its businesses are proud partners of this initiative. Thank you to all the families who have sent in photographs and stories of these soldiers." - Amanda MacDonald, Executive Director, Downtown Oshawa BIA
