New Wall Murals Going Up in Downtown!

In another step towards beautification in Downtown Oshawa, we are thrilled to announce our new mural project! Later this month, you will be able to see these new murals popping up on three businesses created by Oshawa resident Chad Tyson!

"...We really need visual changes and creating community artwork is my way to contribute to the new and improved Oshawa landscape." - Chad Tyson, Local Oshawa Artist

The Wall Mural Initiative will improve the streetscape of downtown by featuring our amazing local talent. The Downtown Oshawa BIA wants to continue to do projects that involve community stakeholders. Through these new initiatives, we are discovering a new vibe for the downtown that includes the community’s arts and culture scene.

This project is starting with three murals for 2019 with hopes of more in 2020. With the new banners and pole wraps, these wall murals mark the beginning of Downtown Oshawa BIA’s beautification efforts and solidify our brand.

You can find these pieces of art later in September at Cork & Bean located on 8 Simcoe Street North, La Quinta located on 63 King Street East, and The Vape Store located on 14 Ontario Street.

"The BIA is committed to revitalizing the downtown through arts and culture and these wall murals are one of several new initiatives to jump-start that process! We look forward to seeing other artists’ proposals in the future!" - Amanda MacDonald, Executive Director, Downtown Oshawa BIA

"Arts is deeply embedded in our city's history. Wall murals are key in communicating our city's rich history and is a great avenue in expressing our community members' creativity and showcasing our local talents. It not only contributes a vibrant and beautiful downtown but it is also our way or telling Oshawa's story." - Janette Sigua, My Dream Bloom & ODBIA Chair of Economic Development.
